"God's One True Church"

There are more than 350 Protestant denomination in the United States. Add to this the Catholic Churches, and the other
religions, and the idea of God having one true church will surely offend some. I beg of you to consider what is being said here.
Read this article, pray about it, and study what God's Word says for yourself. It is not the intention of this author to offend anyone.
It is not my intention to condemn the faithful followers of any religious institution. Please understand that references to any
religious organization are in regards to the organization and not the innocent lay people who might be involved with that

Lessons Are For Us

Every word of Scripture was written for the last days. 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" But beyond this important point lies another. In
1 Corinthians 10:1-10 we have rehearsed for us the experience of God's people in ancient times. God worked mighty miracles
for His people, and yet they continually failed Him. This passage is a vivid lesson for us that we would not follow in their sins
and lusts. We are also told something very important in verse eleven: "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples
(examples): and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come." (1 Corinthians 10:11). Every
Word of God's Holy Bible was especially written for the last generation who would live just before Jesus comes the second
time. In every Bible story we can find lessons for God's people in these last days. The stories do not merely contain lessons for
us, but we can see symbols and parallels between these old stories and God's church today.

Only Two Churches Exist

In order to begin to understand the idea of there being one true church, we must understand the Biblical principle that there are
really only two churches which exist in the world. Despite all the hundreds of denominations and religions, the Bible teaches
that we are all a member of one of the two churches that we will discuss in this article. You will not see any competition between
the different denominations presented here. Instead, I present to you an individual choice that we must all make.

From the earliest Bible record, we find that mankind has been separated into two classes. Those that obey God, and those that
don't. We could place any of a number of labels on these two classes, such as: good and bad; righteous and wicked; saved and
unsaved; believers and unbelievers; and etc. But we should all understand that what we mean here is that there are those who
have a personal relationship with the true God of heaven, and there are those who do not.

The second generation of men that lived on the earth, Cain and Abel, were the beginning of the two classes [see Genesis
4:1-16]. Many have viewed these two brothers symbolically as the church (Abel), and the world (Cain). But few will recognize that
both of these men are brothers; members of the same family; the children of Adam and ultimately the children of God. Both of
these men were believers according to the Bible record. God required of them a sacrifice for their sins, and both of these men
set out to perform a religious rite.

The problem starts when Cain refuses to follow the strict instructions of the Lord. Under the Old Testament sacrificial system,
the required sacrifice for sin was the death of a perfect, unblemished lamb. Although the instructions for these sacrifices were
not recorded until the Levitical law was given to the children of Israel in the wilderness, it is understood that this system had
been in place from the very time that sin entered into the story of man. Adam and Eve must have brought the sacrificial lamb,
which represented the Lord Jesus Christ, and made their atonement with God. The only difference is in the fact that before the
Word was written down by Moses, it was delivered by word of mouth. Remember that the first inhabitants of this world lived
many hundreds of years, and Adam was around a long time to make sure that the instructions of God were known correctly.

Cain did not follow the strict instructions that God had given for the sacrifice, but it should be noted that he did attempt to bring a
sacrifice. Therefore Cain doesn't represent the unbelieving worldling, but the unfaithful church member. Cain tried to make up
his own rules. He replaced the commandment of God with his own "tradition." Down through the ages there have been those
who have tried to be a part of God's church while making up their own dogmas and creeds.

We see similar symbols of the true and the false members of God's church presented in the stories of: Isaac and Ishmael;
Jacob and Esau; Joseph and his brothers; Ephraim and Manasseh; the twelve spies; the golden calf at Mount Sanai; and
Balaams' prophecy. And these are just a few of the stories related by Moses. These kinds of stories continue throughout the Old
and New Testaments. It is amazing to consider all the times that God's Word contrasts the true verses the false religion, or the
true verse the false church. Again, I think that we have traditionally looked at these stories as relating to the church verses the
world, but if both sides are religious, they must both pertain to those who claim to be God's people.

One of the most striking stories in all the Bible is the story of the prophet Elijah at Mount Carmel. One of the darkest periods in
the church's history, this story should make us think about the state of the church today. You can read the entire story for yourself
in 1 Kings 16:29-18:46. This was a very important and pivotal time in the history of God's church. There was so much apostasy
in the church that the very priests, which were to minister before the Lord in the temple service, were burning incense to, and
worshipping Baal, the sun god, right in the tabernacle of the Lord. What worse thing could possibly be done in the very house of

Can you imagine going to church this weekend and finding a large buddha where the altar used to be? What about a golden calf
at the front of the church? Do you think that it would shock you to find a statue of Zeus or Venus on the front wall of your church?
Most people will quickly agree that these would be very shocking, even unthinkable, in our Christian churches. But is it possible
that there are things of this nature going on right now?

There are many forms of pagan idolatry going on in most of the churches in our land today. I would surely say that most of the
laity have no idea that they are surrounded by these kinds of things. This raises a question: If we don't know that something is
idolatry, does that make it all right? In our society we have a saying that "ignorance is no excuse of the law." And while God does
not hold us accountable for the things that we are ignorant of, it does not change the fact that they are wrong, and that they are
hurtful to our Lord and Savior. Once we know that something is wrong, we should be willing to put it away from us. (For more
information on this important subject, please return to this link later and read about
"Paganism Within the Church."

What does all this have to do with God's one true church? Jesus spoke about the condition of the church in His day in Matthew
15:8-9: "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with
their lips; but their heart is far from me. But
in vain they do worship me, teaching
for doctrines the commandments of men." The message of the book of Revelation is that
there are two churches. The true church whose head is Jesus Christ, and the false church which follows Satan. Both of these
churches call themselves Christian. Both churches do many good works, so that the people will think that they are the true
church. In Revelation 14:12, we are given the definition of God's true church: "Here is the patience of the saints: here
are they
that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." (see also Revelation 12:17).

God's true church are those people who have faith in Jesus and obey His commandments. Jesus said: "If ye love me, keep my
commandments."(John 14:15) We have also read that He said when we put the commandments of men above the
commandments of God, we are worshipping Him in vain, just the way that Cain did. The true church is the one which follows all
the commandments of God, just as they are written in His holy Word. The false church then, is any church (regardless of its'
name) which follows mans' tradition instead of God's commandments.

The reader will understand that there is really only one of the "Christian" churches that openly admits to following church
tradition instead of the dictates of God's Word. The Catholic church believes that she has the power to change doctrine. The
most basic difference between the Catholic and the Protestant is that the Protestant believes that the Bible is the only unerring
rule of faith and practice; while the Catholic believes that the church, through the priesthood, must interpret what is truth. The
Catholic church proudly boasts that the church has the power to change the doctrines.

Having said these things about the Catholic church, we now turn to the Protestant churches. Do the Protestant churches believe
that the church has power over the Bible? I am certain that all of the mainstream Protestant churches would answer
emphatically NO. To my knowledge, every Protestant church believes that the Bible should instruct us in doctrine. But regardless
of what they say they believe, the so called Protestant churches still follow many of the dictates of the Catholic church.

A Good Example

Most likely the clearest example of this problem in the Protestant churches is that of Sunday keeping. Almost all of the so called
Protestant churches keep Sunday according to the teaching of the Catholic church. There is not one word in all the Bible which
indicates in any way that we are to keep the first day of the week holy, and yet almost all of the "Christian" world is following the
Catholic church in this regard. For a real eye opening, read the series of articles entitled "Rome's Challenge." The article was
written by a high ranking Catholic and depicts the Catholic church as boasting of its power to change the law of God. They boast
that the "mark" of their authority is the fact that the Catholic church has changed the very law of God, and that virtually the entire
world accepts this change. Some time in the near future, you should go to this site and read the article entitled
Challenge," it is an eye opener.

The very last presentation of the gospel message is given in Revelation chapter fourteen. Read it carefully: (Revelation 14:6)
"And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the
everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth,
and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,"[Notice that the message that follows is called the EVERLASTING
GOSPEL. and that it is to be preached to all the people of the earth. Compare this verse with the great gospel commission,
given by Jesus Himself: (Mark 16:15-16) "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every
creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." And again Jesus
promises in (Matthew 24:14) "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations;
and then shall the end come."]

The Everlasting Gospel Message

(Revelation 14:7) "Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship
him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters."
[The everlasting gospel calls us to the fact that there
is a judgment taking place in heaven, and as such we are to worship the true God, the CREATOR.]

(Revelation 14:8) "And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all
nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication."
The everlasting gospel is warning us of the false religious system called
Babylon. This gospel message is calling God's true people out of Babylon. (Revelation 18:2-4) "And he cried mightily with a
strong voice, saying,
Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit,
and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings
of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her
delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying,
Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and
that ye receive not of her plagues."
Do you know who Babylon is? Does your preacher give the gospel message warning to
people about Babylon and calling them out of her? Surely all churches and ministers should be giving the EVERLASTING

(Revelation 14:9) "And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and
receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand," (Revelation 14:10) "The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which
is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of
the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:"
(Revelation 14:11) "And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who
worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."
Do you know who the beast is? Again, does
your preacher actively teach people about the beast, his image, and his mark?

(Revelation 14:12) "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus."
Notice that God's people are defined as those who have faith in Jesus, and keep the commandments of God. It is not enough to
claim faith in Jesus alone, you must keep the commandments too. It is no more possible to be saved by believing in Jesus
alone, as it would to be saved by keeping the commandments alone. We must do both!

God's true church, is the church which keeps His commandments; ALL OF THEM! (James 2:10) "For whosoever shall keep the
whole law, and yet offend in one
point, he is guilty of all." It is the true church which has complete faith in Jesus Christ and His
Word rather than the traditions and laws of men. It is also the church which is giving the threefold message of Revelation 14 to
the world.

So which church is it? Unfortunately I cannot point to any denomination and tell you that it is God's one true church. You see,
God's one true church is not built with earthly stones. It is not any of the religious organizations of the world. But it is the true and
faithful people of God, whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life. There are churches that have all the truth, but not all
who are members of the earthly churches are members in the Lamb's book of life.

Jesus told a parable of the wheat and the tares (weeds). He explained that the wheat represent God's true and faithful people,
while the tares represent the false professors of Christianity. Jesus explained that the tares would remain in the visible church
until the very end of time. But make no mistake about it, they are not enrolled in the true church, on the Lamb's book of life!

God's true church is a grass roots movement, which is headed by Jesus Christ Himself, and empowered by the Holy Spirit of
God. If you think that this is a radical opinion, I ask that you consider the ministry of Jesus Himself. His ministry was not
approved of, or sanctioned by the official or visible church. In fact, they worked very hard to entrap Him and have Him killed.
Jesus did make a habit of attending church, but He was not able to take part in the organizational structure that the nation saw
as God's church. Was He a member of the true church? There is no doubt about it! The same was true of John the Baptist, and
we must admit that the very Christian church came about as the result of the official (visible) church's rejection of the Son of God.

Go To Church

Do not misunderstand the point that this author makes about attending church. I believe that we have been called by God to form
and function as local churches. It is the higher organizations which usually give us the problems. If your church does not qualify
as being a part of God's one true church that we have described above, you have a duty to bring the light of truth to that church.
Your first duty is to the church where you have been attending. BEWARE! Once you see the need of making changes in your life
and in your church, you will be assailed from all sides. Without the special help of God's Spirit, the majority will quickly put you in
your place. It is not often that we see entire churches come to the light of truth. So be prepared for rejection.

What if your church refuses to obey the everlasting gospel? Your first duty is to your home church, but you must be able to realize
whether you are enlightening that church, or whether it is darkening your experience. You need to find yourself a church which
follows all the commandments of God including the seventh day Sabbath of the fourth commandment [see Exodus 20:8-11]. If
you need help finding a commandment keeping church in your area, please don't hesitate to contact us . We are networked with
many churches around the world, and would love to get you in contact with one of them. If you already know of a commandment
keeping, faith based church in your area, we would like to hear about your decision to follow Jesus all the way. Please contact
us, and let us know that the information on this web site has been a blessing in helping you to realize these important truths.

Can you see that there is only one true church? Remember, it is God's true and faithful followers who have implicit faith in
Jesus; they keep all of God's ten commandments; and they are preaching the everlasting gospel of Revelation 14. You may not
personally know another single person which fits this description yet, but you can be a member of God's one true church right
now! Whenever we come to the place that we know we have done wrong, we should confess and forsake our wrongs. We give
ourselves to Jesus and promise by His grace to do what is right. If you have done this, you are a part of God's one true church!
